1929

At age 23, Roman Rose founds Roman Electric just one month before the stock market crash.

1930-1935

As other contractors close their doors, Roman Electric perseveres through the Great Depression.

1934

Roman marries Catherine, adding a partner to the company.

1936

Roman opens an electric appliance store in his grandfather's cigar factory.

1937

The company draws large crowds to its “electric range cooking classes,” promoting greater electricity use in the home.

1943

Roman Electric begins work at Maynard Steel Company to support the war effort.

1944

Roman's brother and business partner, Arthur, is MIA while serving as a Navy electrician after a Japanese attack on the USS St. Lo aircraft carrier in the Pacific.

1949

When the post-war building boom takes off, Roman Electric enters the new home market.

1955

Demand continues to grow and Roman builds a new, modern appliance store at 1738 S. 11th Street.

1962

Sons Gerv, Greg and Tom assume operations of Roman Electric upon the sudden passing of Roman.

1975

Roman Electric moves to the larger and current headquarters at 640 S. 70th Street, adding even more staff.

1982

Roman Electric adds the sound and communications division known as Roman TechNet.

1988

The company purchases Ruud Electric in Sturtevant, Wisconsin to expand its footprint.

2003

Gerv's sons, Phil and Gabe Rose, become president and vice president of Roman Electric.

2015

Roman buys Andersen Plumbing to add plumbing services.

2016

Roman adds a residential HVAC division.

President

A proven manager and degreed electrical engineer, Phil has served as president since 2003. He's closely involved in overseeing every stage of Roman's process, from budgeting to project completion.

Gervase R. Rose

Chairman and CEO

Son of founder Roman Rose, Gerv has been embedded in the company’s culture since the 1950s. He’s a member of the Academy of Electrical Contracting and serves professional and volunteer organizations across the state.

Gabriel E. Rose

Vice President, Design & Engineering

With experience in project management, electrical engineering and consulting, Gabe leads the design & engineering team with a steady hand. He’s served at Roman Electric and other national firms for nearly three decades.
