CASE STUDY:

Racine Sealed Air YMCA

New Construction
Power & Lighting

General Contractor: Mortenson Construction

Project Size: 69,446 sq. ft.

Location: Mt. Pleasant, WI

Challenge: Roman was asked to provide wiring methods for various types of occupancies throughout the building, including an aquatic center, fitness studios and a child care center. Each required a specific approach.

Solution: Using Building Information Modeling (BIM) coordination across the trades, challenges were able to be addressed before they became an issue in the field.

"Roman was great. They were really thorough and took the time to make sure everything was right. Plus, we could joke around with them. We developed a great relationship."

Jeff Collen, CEO, Sealed Air YMCA

Additional Details: The $14 million state-of-the art Sealed Air YMCA in Racine is a family fitness center with an array of impressive amenities. Its enormous, eye popping indoor aquatic center features two pools, a large water slide, a lazy river and a splash play area for young children. The new Y has a huge gym, basketball courts, a running/ walking track, a host of cardio equipment, weight machines and free weights, fitness studios, rooms dedicated to spin classes and yoga, and a large drop-off child watch area. Another unique feature is the building's LEED approved, highly efficient lighting, much of it from LED fixtures. The water park includes lighting from a linear LED fixture modified to provide indirect lighting, the first such use.
